    Gold "Marine" HJ buckle M4/28

What do you guys think of this one? The color looks gold to me, I'm thinking it's a Marine HJ buckle. Doesn't look like any gold finish on the inside though? It's hard to read the last digit, but the maker to me looks like M4/28.

I don't think that your buckle has a gold finish! In my eyes just a tarnished standard nickle silver coating. The reverse side is in better condition and it looks of course silver. And don't forget the copper coating below the nickle silver. It is nothing else than a kind of primer.

BTW, the existence of "gold" Marine HJ buckles is generally not confirmed. There are some known gold HJ buckles in the collections. But most of them are questionable, if you ask me.

          Agree with Guido,
it's a nickel/silver over steel and the gold you can see on front is just the primer (the coating has gone).

That would make sense. Thanks for all of your input.
