Early HJ - Unit Marked??

This is one of the first pieces of militaria I ever acquired. Direct from an ad. Early nickel HJ on black belt.

The main reason for posting is to ask the membership if they believe the numbers stamped into the side of the buckle could be a unit marking. I can supply more photos if needed.

The photo is terrible! The markings are not really clear, but this photo does not help at all.

I believe it is: J V AUSFG 2 then the next line HERSTELLER NR

Hersteller means maker or manufacturer.

On http://www.vertalen.nu/ is a Dutch translation site where you can translate from Dutch, English,French,German etc and Vice Versa.

Thanks for your reply. I did know that the hersteller was the manufacturer for the belt. I just included that for information. The question had to do with whether the numbers stamped in the side of the buckle were a measurement (something to do with meters or millimeters, perhaps?) or a unit marking that might have been recognizable...

I know that your are really looking for information in connection with the buckle, rather than the strap markings.

Page 264 of Jack Angolia's reference, illustrates the reverse of a DJ strap, stamped with a large RZM logo, although a line as DJ/AUSF.8 and a line beneath this, stamped with the L2 for leather goods, a makers code and a 36 for the year.

There seems to be similarities with yours.

As for the markings on the edge of the early HJ buckle, a mystery to myself and hopefully one of the chaps specializing in HJ will expain.
