KM marked Buckle nickel-plated 1940 - what is it?

If I saw this at a flea market I would dismiss it at once and not even bother you guys with it, but circumstances force me to at least consider the possibility that it is authentic. Buckle and leather thong are both dated 1940, with the thong Kriegsmarine proofed. Buckle looks to be nickel-plated but I don't know how a vet could have pulled it off. The soldering job on the belt hook looks like hell as you can see. So what is this monster?

        Hello,

        looks like a original N&H 1940 buckle .

IMO the chrom plating is made post war , also the tab stiching is not original .

Who is the maker on the tab?

            I agree with Markus
The tab is marked Noelle & Hueck, like the buckle

It is most likely a costal artillery buckle with the marked tab.

Thanks everyone, for your advice. Came straight out of a footlocker - none of the other items in the grouping are in doubt. A friend found this grouping - I don't own it.
