    Fake, right?

    Hi,

My first post in this area I think! Be gentle!

I'm pretty sure this is a variation of the "pigeon head" fake from what I've been able to glean. I have not seen this combination pictured here (no search on the marking turns it up anyway) so if it's bad feel free to add it to the fake reference thread.

Heer buckle with spurious stamped RZM M4/38 markings. All parts are steel. Pics attached.

On a totally different note, there's a local collector who has an interest in pre-1895 buckles but doesn't have much of an internet presence. If any of you have (or know of someone with) an interest in such buckles and does not mind discussing with him, please PM me your contact details and I'll pass them on.

    Thanks & Regards
    Mike

Yup, it's a pigeon-head fake indeed. I've never seen one with those markings.

And the tell tale thin script fake to go along with Mike.

Thanks for the confirmation guys, appreciated.

If there are any Imperial buckle collectors out there then I'm sure the local collector would appreciate the contact so please drop me a line.
