Unfortunately, the SA is not a popular buckle within the Forum and indeed, I no longer bother to post for information and cross reference purposes, some of the more usual or standard types.

It still however never ceases to amaze me with regard to some of the quite superb detail encountered on which essentially, is as a very common and mass produced group.

As you know David, SA buckles aren't my favorite design. I too find the craftmanship on something that was mearly intended to be worn at the waist a marvel.

Here is another SA and quite similar to the previous no.4. A strange design of eagle and actually, quite snake like by the neck and head design.

How right I think you are, insofar as what appears an immense amount of design and manufacturing time, towards something so simple and basic as a belt buckle. The variations of the SA designs now seem more apparent and probably, due to collectors now seeking them out and no longer regarding them as the Cinderella of the buckle world.

The attached no.2 is what I think is an interesting design (hunched wings and small head eagle) and which I now see on a regular basis, albeit with numerous permutations and variations. Unless there is no theatrical adverse reaction from the Forum, I plan to eventually post a few variations of this quite distinct design.
