SS buckle 36/40 - please help ..

A friend of mine has been offered this Alu buckle , and I'm having more difficulty with it than I expected .

The good points IMHO ;

1 . the collection it came from was untouched for appr. 20 years - didn't the good alu reproductions surface around 2000 ?
2 . I can see no signs of casting , and :
3 . the measurements would appear to be correct = 64 x 48 mm .
4 . I like the remains of silverpaint in the crevices , e.g. around the outer rope - I'm not sure if alu repro's already have this feature .

In fact the only part I do not like is the marking . This seems to be more shallow than the originals I could find on this forum - and match the reproductions seen - or could this be caused by wear .. ?

To me, it looks like a nice original, based on these photos. That said, I'd feel more comfortable after seeing a photo of it in natural light (outside or by an open window in the daylight). I like the crisp detail.

I liked it too , until I found that most other 36/40's to have a somewhat more crisp marking , while the one I question is sort of SHALLOW ( or just worn ? ) .
Can't be too careful these days , but maybe I'm just seeing things ..
Please compare to another one shown here on WAF ;

That's a feature I do not like , but it could be due to camera flash.

Same buckle with heavy damage. But great eagle and motto.
Please tell if need more photo, try to get from owner.
