    Aluminum Luftschutz real or fake?

I bought this aluminum Luftschutz from a guy who told be it was a fake because it was unmarked and made in aluminum. He told me this buckle was only made in steel with a silver wash. Needless to say I'm an impulsive buyer and bought it anyway. I'm new at collecting so I don't have much reference material in regards to this buckle. Any help would be great. Thanks for your time

    Steve.

I think that this is an original SHD buckle.

Here, aluminium (seen in both steel and aluminium) and without a makers mark or logo, which is perfectly "acceptable".

I can however guarantee that some Forum members will regard this somewhat rare buckle as a fake!

      Regards,

      David

I think the price that Chad indicated is right for this buckle, although interestingly, a US dealer has currently one of these buckles for sale at $95.00!

The bone of contention with this buckle is three pointed as,
              • in theory a rare buckles, although recently, quite a few in circulation and including, those being offered on a well known US auction site
              • the very distinct and short span catch
              • the lack of silver grey paint on some examples
Attached is another aluminium example for comparison and also, one in steel.

              Regards,

              David
