Olive KM / costal artillery buckle with navy eagle marked tab, together with the scarce “pebbled” navy buckle. This last one is of “Belgian” manufacture. Of exactly the same construction as the Belgian made WH and LW buckles this one is the scarcest of the three.<O></O>

Weimar republic navy buckles, both all brass one piece. The pebbled one is quite scarce. Tabs are always navy marked.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>

                          Copper/brass

                          Hello Marc,
Fantastic buckles, especially the Imperial M47s. Are the Marine steel M14 buckles all stamped or do they come with applied roundels also?
As for the copper KM buckles, I have a CTD 42 crank catch brass-plated steel one. The brass plating has worn away in places, revealing copper plating under that. The buckle is very magnetic, however. A metal plating expert may be able to explain the reason for the copper/brass plating on steel.
                          Regards,
                          Kevin

A few more steel KM buckles, most are indeed steel with a copper plating and gold plated or painted. I guess, one has to plate the copper on the steel so the "gold" holds better???
