Overhoff made many models of buckles for the Nazi organisation; it was probably the biggest manufacture of all. (And the only survived one at this day who still makes buckles) Most of the German buckles period 1920 to 1945 can be found with O&C ges. Gesch. Stamping. This poses a problem for us collectors and researchers on the exact manufacture of some buckles as the discussion exist as to whom really owned the patents on some buckles…. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>

What do you mean "...most of the German buckles period 1920 to 1945 can be found with O & C ges. gesch stampings...".

It is news to me (very pleasant news though) and perhaps you could post a few examples such as say Der Stahlhelm, Polizei, RAD, Scharnhorstbund and DJ - just to pull a few random examples.

          Regards,

            Hi David,

No, this is not news to you, ……don’t take it to the letter!!…. I say most… not all.

My above post should have said "O&C "or "Overhoff" NOT O&C Gesh gesch. The Ges. Gesch, part came as a typing habit.

Most marked buckles are found with the Overhoff marking, of you’re above list, the Stalhelm and the Sharnhorstbund are not marked but the RAD, DJ and police do come with Overhoff markings. There was a wonderful example of an overhoff RAD posted yesterday on this forum.

The buckles who are coming with the O&C Gesch gesch markings are: SS, HJ, NSBO, Officers police, Many officer type Fire police, many forestry, diplomats, ect…. One is always talking about EM buckles here on the forum but LOTS of Officer type buckles have the O&C ges gesch marking. Regardless of them being from a Polictical organisation or army.

Yes, I now fully understand as initially and during my involuntary change of boxer shorts, I thought you were referring to the distinct and special "O & C ges. gesch." logo.

I agree, the RAD recently posted is quite brilliant.

Talking about logos, do you have any comments about the very odd Polizei by Aurich that I recently posted. I thought that it was quite interesting, although I always become a little nervous when a slightly "non standard" buckle, receives no comments whatsoever from the Forum. Visions perhaps of the aluminium and two piece Der Stahlhelm buckle with the swastika!

              Regards,

              David
