Polizei - brass by Aurich

An interesting Schupo buckle and towards which by construction, I have never seen before.

Appears to be an Aurich brass example ( I have seen this design in steel ), with a silver wash or nickle silver plate.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hi David, this is one of these buckles I changed my mind on over the years.

Until a few years ago we all had buckles, Police, SS, WH, LW anything, in our collection where we had doubts or even a serious doubt about, but because buckles where not that expensive it did not matter. We kept them “just in case”

Times have changed and we are looking closer to what we have or buy. This is one of these buckles. I kept it in my collection for years together with the multiple other police buckles but a few years go I transferred this buckle to the ‘Fake and doubtful” box.

The finition is way too sloppy, a brass buckle like this doesn’t make any sense and most of all, the prongs are completely wrong. Although I have seen such buckles with “correct” prongs, most of them are of the “red flag” 45° opposite cut.

Therefore, I personally think it is a fake buckle.

You have confirmed by suspicions, although Christian has also suggested that this most interesting Polizei buckle is a fake.

A thumbs down by two Forum memebers is good enough for me.

The claws by the way are "standard" and not "cross cut" and I will post some images for the Forum's reference.

Hi all!
I think the Aurich police is a very good fake. I have the same one and I know about a few others (one is nickle plated!).

The missing line on the bottom could a makers variation. To see large quantities of brass buckles in 1936 or later is possible, but very strange. Strange is also to see a brass buckle from a large maker with that lack of detail on the back.

Everthing is possible, but not that catch!!! It isn't solid, it looks most of the time more like a decoration!
