Hello,
mine has the same prongs. If You have a closer look to Bobs buckle (which I had the honor to hold in hand last summer) and my buckle You will see, that also these roundels are silvered. They only show more aging. Rics looks almost like mint.

by the pics I believe your buckles roundel is by brass silvered (silver washed ?), about mine I'm pretty sure roundel is by nickel.

That's the reason why it looks almost mint, but it is not.
