Is this a HJ buckle circa 1930?

I put an early HJ buckle above it for comparison. Doesn't look the same to me.

The buckle in the photo is definitely an early HJ/NSDAP Jugend buckle. There were numerous design and style variations.

Thank you Belten. Do you have an example of the buckle that is worn in this photo for me to view?

For me it is just a normal SA buckle, regular size. Remind the HJ was in the early days assigned to the SA!

I want to make sure you are looking at the buckle on the belt for judgement and not the color photo of a HJ/SA buckle. The color photo example looks very different from the b/w photo example. Thanks.

With post 1 you did not show an early HJ buckle, but an SA buckle-variation.
The SA buckle can have various form of eagles. Berg & Nolte did manufacturer an eagle which was to be found lower upon the inset. And so had many other concerns.

              That is right!

I measured the HJ badge in the photo. That's a first pattern badge, which measures approximately 22mm in diameter. The buckle in the photo measures about double the vertical length of the badge, making it approximately 44-45mm, so it's a full size SA buckle.

              Sorry for the mistake.

Could it be a 'dog head' SA buckle (with a nickel silver roundel)?

What year would you say this photo was taken?

About 1931/1932. A better look at the shoulder-straps could have given an even better answer, but they are not visible.

You have often questions. A good advise would be to buy you some good books. With that you can solve yourself much of your questions!

Look at some publishers websites as Schiffer, Bender, VDM and others! I do not know what you want or are looking for!
