So maybe it was repainted, Are their any makers marks under the claw??Lets not killit yet, Lets see what marks are on it. It looks good so far.

it looks to me as a wellknown fake! Anyway J say this type before.

This buckle is a well known fake originating from England. Once an old forgotten fake, its production has been reset to match today's increasing prices paid for SS buckles.

Mostly made green painted, some are also available in silver. So you can even find some older ones which have some "true time" aging as well as new ones.
But do not waste your time on it, just a fake.

For those not familiar with period dies/design used during the Third Reich period, this one is a quick call: hollow prongs (not visible here do to angle the photo was taken), catch in the shape of just a bended rod of steel (no flat feet solder to the buckle) and two dimple on sides of the buckle (one on each side). So, even if some smart dealers tried to camouflage some features over time (changing prongs, removing catch, etc ...) there is always one of the wrong feature remaining.
