    wehrmannschaft buckle OPINION

    Hello
    wehrmannschaft buckle - opinion please.
    very thanks

This is a tough one. At first glance, it looks like a worn original (which is pretty uncommon in itself), but I think it's actually a cast fake. It looks like an original tab was spuriously added at some point.

      Buckle is a fake.

Tab is from Aurich and IMO OK.

I think I see the flaw line above the catch. Could you fake that in a copy?

The die flaw would come through in the copy, since it's cast from an original.

I don't think a casting would duplicate the flaw. The example in the fake sticky thread doesn't have it A good closeup of area above the catch would help.

              H,

i think also that is a moldet fake .

My eyes are looking to hundreds of cast flows on the backside.........

The die flaw alone isn't enough to determine a fake, unfortunately. Take a look here:

Now that I am looking at this on a regular computer I see what you mean. I was focusing to much on that crack flaw. It seems a cast copy wouldn't have it.

The good cast fakes seem to have the flaw, but some of the low quality ones don't. I think that some of the fakes are first generation, while others are casts of casts, so the detail gets more and more indistinct as it goes down the line. Some cast fakes are dangerously good!

Good Aurich tab added on a cast fake buckle
BTW SA Wehrmannschaft buckle never had tab factory stitched.

                      Regards
