    Feuerwehr buckle from where?

    Hello all,

I've searched for over an hour now and can't figure it out. Where is this from?

if there is a bird in the upper part of the shield, then it is Saxonia.
Have a look in the Assmann-catalogue page 35.

          Hi William

Saxony it is indeed - but the Prussian province, and not the Freistaat. In the Assmann catalogue, it carries the prefix "Prov[inz]." to denote the difference. Here's what I wrote in another forum when this belt was presented there: "This buckle is for the Prussian province of Saxony - not to be confused with the Free State (Freistaat) of Saxony, the successor of the kingdom of the same name. This province was created in 1815 and unified isolated historic Prussian possessions with territory ceded to Prussia by the then-kingdom of Saxony as a result of the Congress of Vienna. The arms of the Prussian province are surmounted by the Prussian eagle, whereas the Saxon (Free State) arms have the diamond/rhombic shield only."

          Kind regards
          Kurt
