NSFK Belt Buckle - info please.

    Hi,
Could anyone tell me a bit about this NSFK belt buckle please. Does it look OK and what should I pay for it ? Any info you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
(Sorry there is only the one photo of the buckle)

I believe that this buckle is pure fantasy. If you look on the backside, I think you will find that the Icarus emblem is attached with a single rivet.

Post war - Repro most likely

      Hi Terry,

Thanks for posting the picture. This is one of those buckles that eludes collectors and many don't buy as it seems to be spurious 9 times out of 10. I think looking at the buckle itself you would want to look at the catch, prong bar and if there are any markings of a maker. Are you able to get us a close up shot of the back of buckle? The prongs from what I can barely see are cut crude and sharp as if possibly post war but can't tell. Belten is right to look for Icarus mark. Look for casting flaws in the metal around catch and other places. The emblem looks like it has some age or patina but I cannot tell. Pictures are hard to tell. My gut tells me to steer clear of it. If your willing to take a gamble the price would need to be really a low risk. In chapter 23 on page 486 there is a "buckle of uncertain origin". Nash says it is the so Called Legion of Condor Buckle. Can't know for certain even with a reference book. I took a pic for you. It looks like that buckle but as if someone attached an emblem to it. Again I am grasping as well and giving you things to ponder and not a judgment.

Just some thoughts from the buckle peanut gallery over here. Hope I helped you. Let me know what you find out. Curious was well. Link below has some of my collection. Don't have an NSFK yet. Still searching
