WH Bucle 1943 : good or fake ?

    Hello guys,

I just found this WH Buckle at a collector. The markings are C.T.D. 1943.

Looks good to me but what do you think ?

    Thanks for your help.

It's an original buckle by Christian Theodore Dicke. Some people describe these as Kriegsmarine coastal artillery buckles, but in fact they are just considered to be ordinary mid- to late-war Heer buckles unless they are accompanied by a KM-marked tab. The paint on yours may have been touched up at some point.

        Thanks for your help Belten

You think it was repainted after or during the war ?

I'm not certain that it was repainted, but I see what could be some brushstrokes on the front. If it was repainted, it's not really possible to say when with any level of certainty.

Some others who are more experienced might be able to say more about the paint, regarding whether or not it's original to the buckle. I am just not sure to be honest!

With further look, it looks like it was repainted on the front indeed.

Would that chance the authenticity of the buckle or is it still an original ?

It's an original buckle without doubt, but the repainting does affect the value and desirability, of course.
