According to W.Saris, Heinrich Schwerter in Menden was recorded in Deutsche Sportartikel-Zeitung, nr. 13 from 1933, page 8 as an official maker for the Turnerbund buckle. It is indeed the best lead but is there anything more??

I don't have documentary evidence, but s symbol with three swords would make sense for a company called Schwerter, which is the plural for Schwert = sword.

                Kind regards

I think with that list that Wim Saris produced and the name its looking a very strong case that Schwerter is the maker JP. I would not say they are 100% but like you would probably like another source to show they are.

Thanks! I already knew schwerter was the translation of sword but I did not know it was for the plural of sword. Unfortunately for me, my German is more than limited.... Thank you again for the specification

Do you know what Hch. stands for (since the company is listed as Hch. Schwerter, Metallwarenfabrik, Menden)?

I was at that point several years ago. New for me within the last months was the W,Saris input (since this marking is indeed on a Turnerbund buckle) and today the plural of schwert = schwerter (logo has 3 swords). But I still need more input to close the subject. Was schwerter an important maker in the early 30's?

I dont think they were in regards to buckles JP, I have only ever seen Heer buckles and this Turnerbund if it is indeed by them. Even the Heer buckles are hard to come by so they were not a very prolific maker else there would be more buckles around with more variation to them.

Based on prongs the company could have made also FAD, SA/NSKK and SS buckles. But maybe prongs were made from another company and Schwerter was just buying those from this company. It is also possible. This is why I need more info.

"Hch." should be the abbreviation of Heinrich, thus the company's founder was one Heinrich Schwerter.
