Thoughts on this Luftwaffe JD Buckle

Looking for authentication. This was part of a small lot I recently purchased. 1st pattern buckle, JD marked. Tab marked J. Deutschbien G.m.b.H. 1938 Euskirchen. I notice it has a second pattern eagle. It doesn't have a drop tail like the one posted by Ssteve in this thread- http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...+buckle&page=3 Is this commonly seen or maybe a transitional thing or something? Thoughts?

Okay, so it's a 2nd pattern not a 1st. I thought it was a 1st pattern because the front looked more convex but then I don't have anything to actually compare it to in person. I was just looking at the photos in the previously mentioned thread. I'll take your words on it. You all know better than I do.
