      Hi,

Unfortunately, I am afraid that is a reproduction.
Wrong oak leaves, wrong swastika and bad crimps.

      Best, Chris

Die stuck East European reproduction. The best ever made but still just a reproduction.

Should these all have the light circle around the four marks..or is that circle not found on all pieces?

It is a fact that reproductions of the 36/40's are made only without the circle surrounding the 4 markings. But many original 36/40 do not have this circle neither. So, to make it short, original 36/40's can be found with or without it, reproductions only without it (for how long ...).

I personnaly did not find a price drop due to those fakes. At the four latest MAX and SOS not a single dealer with such reproductions on his table did announce it as such. Selling price was the exact same as an original. The exact same feature does apply to the fake EM 155/43. Just be very careful (or do not buy any of them if you are not perfectly confident).

HI JP, thanks for that info...well at least for now as you said we are safe with the ones with the light circle around the four marks as you said...Would these four marks all have been on one die, and that is why on some you get the circle (the circle being the outline of the die)?

You are probably right and I think the exact same as you do since position and spacing between the 4 markings remains constant within a serie. But I cannot certify it since I do not have any evidence so far.

Thank you All, and especially Jean Pierre,
I had already purchased this buckle, with a 100% guarentee, and just got it today. I already contacted the seller, and he is taking it back. He is a man of his word, thank God.
                      Yours,
