    Luftwaffe 1940 S&C

Here's another buckle from the 101st vet. He removed this from either
the first enemy he killed or the first dead soldier he came across. That
    wasn't too clear.

The tab is stamped 'SCHMO_E & COMP. - MENDEN -1940'. Who can
tell me what the missing letter is? Is it an 'N'? It is obscured by the
stitching. I know I've seen this maker before.

The makers mark is an 'S' and 'C' on each side of a little tree symbol
and '1940'. It's very familiar to me but I can't remember where I've
        seen it.

Brian - It's actually SCHMOLLE u Co., Menden. They produced many of the belt catches also, so that might be where you saw the SC between the pine tree logo before? BTW - Very nice buckle; send it my way when you get tired of it!

          Regards,
          Gary

Thanks Gary! I believe I had this maker years ago. If I part with
            it, I'll let you know.
