I remember to have seen in old threads a unmarked steel buckle from the Marc verstraete collection and to have read that he have a unmarked platted nickel over brass SS officer buckle in his collection
          Regards

I'VE SEEN NO PHOTO INDICATE THE EXISTENCE OF SUCH BUCKLE UP TO TODAY

Your buckle is coming from the former Marco Guerini's collection which ended in Marc Verstraete hands. So it would have been faster to say it was a purchase from him since it is not a new buckle to surface and several collectors already its existence.

It is indeed the only one I personally know (and unfortunately continue to know) but, even if probably, there is no guarantee it was made from Overhoff. There is an area in the dye design which is totally different than any other early SS officer by Overhoff. The one in steel is also different, but much more different.

Here are photos of your now buckle taken in 2001 by Marc. It was already named "unmarked Guerini" or just "unmarked". Should have cost you an arm and a leg...

As a note, Marc was saying it was made from copper then nickeled, not from brass then nickeled. Can you confirm it is brass and not copper?
