    S S - nickle silver

Attached are four of the most commonly found SS in nickle silver as :-
    • no markings
    • Overhoff - abbreviated logo
    • Overhoff - full logo
    • RZM SS 36/36
The fifth buckle however is the "loose cannon".

Without wishing to state the obvious, either an early and very unusual fake or an early and very unusual original variation - no half way house here!

    Any comments would be appreciated.

    Regards,

    David

                        Chad,

Please read this earlier thread about earlier Overhoff's:
                        http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/ubb.x?...786#7613089786
In addition to the above thread which was wrote few years ago, I should add that, as with the well known O&C ges. gesch. marking which has two variants in its marking (ge sch. and gesch. - no space between e and s), there is also two variants of the marking with capital G (one having more rounded fonts than the other). For the moment, all buckles with capital G (both variants) I was able to see were made with the same die, particular with its "check mark" left visible on the back of the swastika. But since the exact same die was also used to produce some of the Overhoff buckles commonly marked O&C ges. ge sch., and taking in consideration a die does not last forever, it should be legitimate to believe the series marked with Capital G was stamped in lesser quantity than any other. This is so far enforced by the availability offered for sale. Based on several clues and new datas obtained since the above thread, I tend to believe the series with capital G were made following the full motto's but prior to the ones with regular markings. But there is so far no guarantee I can bring for such.

Many thanks for the explanation and I was hoping that you would respond to Chad's query.

May the Forum have images of your nickle silver SS buckles?
