    1940 Luftwaffe Aurich

Here is an unissued Aurich. I'm very fond of this particular maker. I used harsh lighting but I like the detail it provides.

The HA logo I am familiar with. Looking forward to learning more about the Arld firm.

      Here're a pair of mine..

      http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=66109

I've noticed the mm on the 1940's is very pronounced ,while the later are getting more faint..
Maybe the die had hard times,I've seen quite many steel Aurichs compared to other makers..
      What's your experience..?

Holy Moly John! I do like the pictures you take. What kind of camera are you using? I believe that's what I'm buying next.

Very nice 1940 Aurich Luft. buckle. I have the same condition Luft. buckle by Aurich made and tabbed in 1942 and according to Christian, an untabbed Luft. Aurich buckle in the same condition made after mid-1943, when Aurich discontinued adding tabs. If you can see in my not-so-good photos, the logos on both of my buckles are right below the eagles head and not below the tail like yours. Christian also stated that there has been observed no less than 5 locations for this logo on the Aurich buckles. I'd sure like to see some more of them from other collectors.

        Regards,
        Gary

As you can see, the later logos have become fainter as the war progressed. Possible die wear?

And the logo on reverse in the same position as the 1942 buckle.

Aurich always seem to have those catches with the very stubby feet, at least on their Luftwaffe buckles. Does anyone have any army Aurich buckles with similar catches?

Kevin - I have several scans of an Aurich Tropical Heer buckle sent to me by Christian and it has the long feet to the catch; very much different than the Luft. buckles. If he gives me the okay to post photos of his buckle, I'll certainly enter them for your observation.

                      Handsome buckles everyone!

Hi Josie, the 1940 isn't a gift. Have had it since before you were a twinkle in you mom and dad's eye

Gary, these photos were taken with a Nikkor 60 mm f2.8 lens, one of the sharpest Nikon makes. More than that is the light. Ansel Adams could make great photos with a Brownie box camera. He was the best, he knew light.

Jos and Kevin, interesting observation on the HA logo inside the buckle. Here is my 42 with a black tab. The HA is so faint inside I can hardly see it.

Kevin - Here is Christian's excellent example of the Aurich Tropical WH buckle. As you can see, no similarities on this catch and the Aurich WL catches.

Here are some of my Aurich ones. 1940, 1941 and 1942. Today was the first time I ever decided to look for a maker mark on the back on these. As others have stated, only the 1940-dated one has a strong MM.
