Thank you Gary. Great clear photo. I appreciate the additional info.. This illustrates that I should read this Forum more, but hardly have enough time to keep up with Fj.

I need to get out all my Luft. buckles and see if I have any by this maker. As far as I can tell the blue one I posted is unmarked. Can you or Kevin tell the maker of the this blue buckle with green web tab from the eagle's design?
    Thanks again,
    John
John - There are so many different eagle patterns out there, that every time I think I've identified a particular maker on an untabbed or unmarked buckle by seeing the same pattern bird on a tabbed buckle, another tabbed buckle comes along with the same or very close eagle pattern? As Karl pointed out to me, one has to be careful that one maker's tab hasn't been applied to another maker's buckle after the war. I think a thread on just this WL eagle pattern identification question would be great, but as stated, we need to be certain that tabs haven't been switched around. Same as you, I have some nice buckles I'd like to know who the manufacturer's were.

    Regards,
    Gary

Sure enough, this green "H.A.42" marked buckle with leather tab is maker makred as "H. ARLD". Something new to learn every day.

Here is my cleanest of my "H.A.42" green on green web tabs. They are all marked "H.A.42".

My blue web on blue buckle, along with my white web tab on silver steel, are both marked "GB"...or is it "BG"? Letters are super imposed over each other.

Now the olive tan buckles are a different matter...

Nice buckles Steve, congratulations. Can't tell if the buckle is the same as mine or not, will have to compare when I have time. Is you other buckle a Harrmann? I have a 41 dated Harrmann that came from a Rgt. 5 veteran.
