    Police - Landespolizei

Two of the slightly enigmatic, "Landespolizei".

          David,

Absolutely beautiful pieces. A shame you don't have some leather and a nice Landes bayonet next to it. Or do you?

I agree Billy, a super buckle by the most overt and somewhat oversize Polizei eagle design, although I suspect that rather like the "Gau Essen", one either loves them or hates them.

The Landespolizei buckle does appear for sale once in a while, although now faked with the copies, being quite obvious when compared to an original Assmann.

No Landespolizei "leather" items held - I wish!

            Regards,

            David

I'm one of the lovers I do confess. Forgive my ignorence but were they only made by Assman?

              Cheers

                Don

To my knowlege, the only genuine Landespolizei is as per the images (again, now faked).

There is at least a third one (held by Marc) with a matt grey/green finish, a la the Gau Essen, otheriswe, as per the photographs.

Always the same construction ( catch and claw bar of note) and always, the same logo stamping.

Finally, all Landespolizei buckles appear in the same "non issued" condition and I have only seen one photograph (Catella) of this buckle being worn.

                Regards,

                David

Thanks once again for answering my question David. It would be very interesting to see the afore mentioned photo. As you know I have a love of period pictures showing items in wear.

                  Cheers
                  Don

A pity Don that we cannot on the Forum display the image of the Landespolizei buckle in wear (and not being worn by a Policeman !), however the photograph will and without doubt, be protected by copyright.

I am not quite sure how well known the Catella publication is, although really worth the effort of trying to secure a copy.

The text is in French, although there are some remarkable and still rarely seen photographs.

I assume however that the publishers would not overly object to a little gratis publicity by a display of the books covers.

                    Regards,

                    David

Thanks David, I'll try to track a copy down.

                        Hi David,

Is the photo you refer to the one where the buckle is being worn by a civilian worker (perhaps a miner) standing in a group? I have never seen a photo of the buckle in wear by a uniformed LAPO. Great buckle BTW!

                        George

                          Hello George

Yes - that is the one !

Perhaps steel workers rather than miners.

I too have never seen a photograph of this quite distinct buckle worn by a member of the police.

                          Hope springs eternal though.

                          Regards,

                          David
