    C.T. Dicke Steel Luft. Buckle??

    Hello -

Wondering if you all could help in ID'ing a Luft. buckle I have in my collection?

The Luft. belt and buckle set that just sold on e-stand has what appears to be a tabbed C.T. DICKE buckle. With permission from the previous owner, I have borrowed scans from that buckle to compare with my buckle in this thread.

Does the tab look like the C.T. Dicke tab and can anyone see any differences with that buckle as to eagle pattern, manufacture of buckle, etc. and my buckle?

Mr. Nash mentions in his book, a steel Luft. C.T.D. buckle in silver paint from 1942, but does not mention others observed being made by this firm. They look the same to me, but wanted to know what others think?

    Regards,
    Gary

I don't think there's anything wrong with either of them, except that possibly a original tab might have been sown to an original buckle it did not originally belong to. Examine the stitches and the holes and let your gut feeling guide you.

              Hello Karl,

Very happy to see you're also a member of this Forum, along with Christian and David. The information and knowledge you have all supplied me with on GDC has been invaluable and I always look forward to and trust your opinions.

From just the years I've owned my Luft. buckle and the amount of legitimate wear, I am fairly certain that it is an unmarked original buckle. I hadn't really thought of the e-stand buckle having a replaced tab, but now, having looked at it, that could be a possibility? Looks like I'm right back to square one in trying to determine if my buckle was made by C.T. Dicke.

Hopefully, another tabbed LW buckle of the same type with the Dicke logo and unquestionable provenance will appear on the Forum for confirmation of maker on my buckle?

              Regards,
              Gary
