is it more rare than the Ges. Gesch. version from this maker?

The regular Ges gesch buckle is the most common nickel buckle, so yes it is harder to find a 57.

They are more scarce the marked 57 GES GESCH buckles than the only 57 marked ones

That's correct as Ivan wrote but 'till now the rare variant is marked GES GESCH MW (MW mark is not ever visible at all ;-) ).
