    Reichswehr Belt & Buckle

I found this belt and buckle a little while ago, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this looks they're both from the same era or not. Was there an Infanterie Regiment 82 in the Reichswehr, or is the belt from the Third Reich?

A nice looking set. If you don't get an answer here try the Heer uniform forum.

      Hi Landsknechte

According to this site http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...ter/IR82-R.htm Infanterie-Regiment 82 was formed on 6 October 1936 in the equally new Wehrkreis XI.

So while the regiment is not of Weimar vintage, at worst you have what looks like a very nice buckle and a very nice belt. Speculating, it could have been possible that a member transferred into the newly formed regiment may have contunued to wear his "old" Reichswehr set for some time. Remember the new Heer buckle was only introduced in January 1936 and it would have taken some time to issue the whole army with buckles for the service dress, and for soldiers to purchase new walking out buckles.

      Kind regards
      Kurt
