I cannot comment on the badges, however the SA is a very rare variant. Is it 1 or 2-piece construction? These were constructed both in 1 & 2-piece form and, even rarer, in nickel-over-brass. The "Straight Wings" SA also has a 35mm "little brother" SA/NSDAP Jugend which is, again, a rare buckle. Attached for comparison is the example I hold in my collection.

The particular piece shown above was already intruduced and sold in a German forum before some days.
This is what I expressed in the German forum:
What I still don't understand is the general high attention around this particular variant. In the end it is indeed a rare SA variant buckle but we know many rare SA variant buckles, some even more rare than this one.
But why collectors are ready to pay tenfold prices for the "Straight Wings" SA buckle? Other SA variants however are just shelf warmer! Or is it still the SS relation wich was once attributed to this buckle?

I think the main reason, as many of us know, is what is found in pages 182, 197, 198, & 199 of Angolia's 3rd Ed. The unfortunate fact is that many collectors take this unsupported speculation as gospel from their "Buckle Bible." An essential text for the buckle collector, however it is unfortunately a solely relied-upon tool for many.

You don't see this buckle for sale very often. The collectors guild had one list for $698. It sit for a few months and has been marked sold for the last few months. I don't remember seeing any at the SOS or the Max in the last 9 years. Even without a SS connection supply and demand should keep prices high. The one on the Guild was a little higher than I would want to pay but it is a rare buckle.Comment

You are so right Kirby, the "Straight Wings" SA is a damned rare piece, but there are other similar seldom counted SA variants out there and I never realized such high price ranges on these. To be honest every other rare SA buckle will bring max. double or triple prices of the standard SA. Am I wrong?
What is for instance about the brass plated steel variant, the incredible high domed SA buckle, or last but not least about the "Stabil DRGM" SA buckle? I think Adam knows also only too well how rare they are. But do you think anyone is ready to pay nearly $700 for them?

More other much nicer and seldom seen but cheaper .
I think it made the fame of this special buckle .............
and all what's written about it .

I have this steel backed SA and I wouldn't even know what to ask if I was going to sell it. I have never seen one for sale so it must be rarer than the straight wing but no SS association. I am happy to hold also the tabbed SA variant but the "Stabil DRGM" or just "DRGM" is still missing from my collection and I also think it is a rare buckle.

I would not call the straight wing buckle as a SS buckle, it's rather for my view a variation buckle. Prices, much to say about it. Some take it for such amount of money some don't. Even when fair priced items can sit.
I alway like to compare the rarity (w/o pricing) of the Blood Order and the Knight's Crosses. We know well which one is more rare and compared to the market prices it doesn't make much sense how they compare price vs. rarity.
I collect quite for some decades and this straight wing buckle is the only one I ever found so far. Neither saw one at any show so far.Comment

Robert, I am happy that you have found this buckle after all these years of collecting. You are of course right, the ordinary price discussion is needless when it comes to the point a collector is saying: "I just want it!" The different ways to this point are manifold and each collector has his own penchant!
I just wanted to get to know what exactly makes this buckle so "sexy" to many collectors! And sorry that I abused your thread for that.
