Opinions on Righ Facing Aluminium Heer Buckle & Belt/Frog

Pretty sure this is all original, came out of the woodwork as they say. What I can't figure out is on the aluminium Heer buckle the eagle is right facing where almost I see the eagle is left facing. Buckle is two piece. Belt and frog have heavy shiney polish finish. Any thoughts on the buckle? Thanks in advance,

    Brian

      Hello,

An original and scarce early heer buckle. The opposite facing buckles were only produced between January 1936-March 1936 and come in many different variant designs and constructions. In addition to the standard 45mm size they are also found in 40mm. Attached here are two examples of mine. I believe your belt strap and matching frog are also original period pieces. I do not specifically collect leather straps and accessories, however, and so cannot speak to them with more certainty.

      Best,
      Adam

Very nice set. I have a Forestry belt from the same company.

            Adam,

Thanks for the info, nice that you have two! Never knew this variant existed, with this hobby you really can learn something new everyday. I collect mainly Heer items which is why I picked it up but was thinking of trying to sell it to cover some bills associated with the birth of my daugther. I don't ask for prices (and I am not here) but in general is this just a buckle variant that people look for or is it one people pay extra for? Just trying to get ballpark idea on what to ask, web search pulls up references to them but no dealers seem to have a right facing one in stock (lots of Heer buckles in general).

Klr, thanks for the input. Cool makers mark.

            Brian

Worth more than a standard buckle, certainly.

Yes, these are hard to find for comparative pricing. There seems to be a tendency to shy away from discussing value & prices on the forums but my thinking is a ballpark range of $175-$250 for the buckle alone. Of course this is dependent on what it's worth to the collector (some jump on these and go after every variant) and also the market (currently not very good...) Personally I would say that including the belt and frog your asking price is a fair place to start.

                  Adam,

Thanks for the help, and yes asking for pricing on an item is always a bit funny. I searched quite a few dealer sites and found none for sale. Just an observation but it seems the closer one is to a market price the less interest there is here in the USA and more overseas interest. Guess we are out of money! (We're not, just a slight trend I seem to detect). Sale is pending but looks like it sold for $300.00 FYI
