    I just aquired a Heer buckle and the leather tab is marked: 4/J.R 103 I assume this is a Jager regiment, am I correct? Thanks

    No, just an Infanterie Regiment, as the "J" was in Germany often used instead "I" at that time.

    Correct decoding is:

    4. Kompanie / 4. company
    Infanterie Regiment 103/ infantry regiment 103
    I = first gear set of that soldier
