SS runes within a diamond is not a bad sign since it tells you right away the item is a fake (on any SS item) or at least an original non-SS item which have been upgraded to SS (this happened in the past on few original Police buckles).

Pointed prongs cut at reversed 45 degree angles is also a very good indicator to tell the buckle, if it is SS, is a fake or at least its prongs have been changed. I say "SS Buckle" since I never saw this feature before on any original SS Buckle but some collectors not only interested by SS Buckles are saying having already seen this feature on few original buckles for other Third Reich organizations. So I cannot comment for this latest area.
Sometimes it is also possible to find an original SS Buckle, usually ground dug, with the missing original post and post sleeve assembly which have been replaced by post and post sleeve assembly from a fake like this one since such buckle are widely available and can be purchase for $15. But not on buckles in the above condition.
