Here are some photos of the belt being black lighted. To my eyes, the black bands turned reddish / purple when inmersed in the black light. I took some photos, and it didn't look as pronouced. Comments appreciated.

        Thanks

Not at all, and looks to be a good unmarked Assmann buckle, please see:

              Hello Pat,

This, IMO, is a put together brocade. The brocade itself is not the brocade used for Heer. Heer Brocades used dark green bands and green felt or wool backing on the back of the brocade - not black bands or gray backing. Stitching also wrong (can't say whether this was done pre '45 or not) but definitely not standard.

Now there are brocades that do have black bands, such as the diplomate brocade, so I am sceptical as to why a Heer buckle would be used. The diplo brocade without the buckle is worth more than a Heer brocade with buckle.

Heer Brocade buckles would be light matte metal for Lt - Col rank and General officers were matte gold.

              Hope this helps.

                  Hello,

the buckle looks like a unmarked Assmann .

The brocade is from the pics very questionabble , because the colors are

not like the normaly WH , silver and two green sripes ...........

Imo the beltcatch on the brocade looks different in condition to the buckle .

Thanks for everyone's responses. It sounds like it is a black striped Diplomat belt that someone put an unmarked Assman Army buckle on it. That being the case, probably would be better to separate the two since they don't go together.

                    Regards,
                    Pat

Please don't misunderstand me; Diplomat brocades used black stripes but so did others - not the Heer. I am not advocating what you have is a Diplomatic brocade but rather I used the Diplo as an example of brocades that utilizes black stripes. Apologize if I what I stated made you believe it was Diplomat.

Bottom line, the brocode shown here is not one I would want in my collection.
