Gentlemen, I would very much appreciate your thoughts on this one piece steel buckle. It appears to have a heavy lacquer finish. Overall length of the buckle is 64mm. There are no maker marks apart from the Assmann stamp on the leather.

Hello Simon,

Luftwaffe buckles are not my focus and I am not sure about the finish... That being said, the buckle and tab are original IMO and buckle display characteristics of Assmann manufacture (i.e., distinctive catch, "ears" and prongs with a curvature.) Please reference the Assmann RZM 155/40 SS buckle and its construction for comparison.

Anyone has only the applied retroactively clear lacquer .
