Der Stahlhelm in Zinc

Bearing in mind the faux pas that I committed with the last Der Stahlhelm posted ... !

This one appears to be a zinc alloy, although the original green paint finish is obvious.

Any comments would be appreciated.

I have not more info on these than you David. They are not common; I know a few in collections over the world. The one in my collection is painted with the some colour as yours.

As it is improbable that they are late WWII wartime productions…. I would suggest an early production for the 20’s when more noble metals where scarce or to expensive?? There exist late WWI buckles in this metal also.
