      Ok here is my opinion.

Some LW buckles exactly like this one, mint condition, same colour, no tab, have surfaced in Belgium about 10 years ago.

I have been proposed some in the past and decided to pass.

I think these are high quality fakes. I can't identify a bad point on the buckle itself but original green LW buckles do not correspond to that one.

I am interessed to hear what others have to say...

...I've seen these too, for sure not original color, probably complete fake.

I remember having a discussion about these larger berries - I cannot find the thread to save my life and I cannot remember what the outcome (if it had one) was. If it was the maker that had them or it was a fake.

If anyone else remember that chime in.

That's also my opinion. Buckle itself seems to be original but the painting is highly questionable.

I don't think this one is an original. To date I haven't a later tabless green buckle. If I were to encounter one I would expect it to be the same as a '41 or '42 dated green buckle, but without the tab.

IMHO, the lack of detail on the eagle, particularly on the back, does not bode well. Sorry -

I was thinking the same thing.

                        Hello,

I wouldn't be too fast deeming this one as a repro.

The buckle shows all the features of an original one by Assmann and to date no repro (certified as such) are know by such quality.

Having the buckle in hands I'd closely look at the paint job, actually that could be an issue IMO.

Basically lack of details could be explained either by a tired die or by paint applied on a worn surface (repaint) or by paint thickness (factory job).

                        Best

                        Ric

I would agree that lack of detail can not be a determining factor in this one, or any repainted buckle for that matter! as Ric pointed out detail loss from normal wear can me covered up by paint and paint can in it's self take away detail with its thickness.

Perhaps some measurements and weight could help?
