    Guido,
Well said, you are absolutely right.
But it can sometimes take a long time before "we" get response or comment on a question of a case of doubt buckle here on the forum.
Given not everyone may have to wait or impatience get such things.

I completely disagree with you. We have the chance to have a lot of experienced collectors in this section of WAF and a matter where it is still possible to tell the good from the bad.

Try to look at the cloth headgear section for example and you will see that things are not that easy in this area of collecting...

The problem is that most of the time it is the same people that are asking and the same people that are answering. Some seems to never get bored of asking but some start to get bored of answering IMO.

        Helmut,

What I meant is that collectors rush to buy something.
And they can not wait for an answer.

I usually demand quite a lot, but I do not have much knowledge to assess other buckles.
I sometimes let my buckles see where I am sure it is a good one, so other collectors can compare this with their buckle.

I understand that, but it is not IMHO the best way to collect.

They should first search for information, get familiar with original AND fakes and then only try to buy item that they are able to judge by themselves.

Looking at the tab stitching, it appears to me that the sewing machine simply used a different shade of thread for the bobbin stitching, and an improper setting of the thread tension has caused some of the topstitching to be pulled through to the underside. This is really not unusual and in my opinion is consistent with wartime period manufacturing. I do not believe that this buckle has been repaired at all.

I truly agree with this... it has to be a give and take system! That way we all learn together and it's a network of information - some people are clearly more educated on somethings but need help with others. So help with the stuff you know and ask with the stuff you need a little help with.

Get educated (don't just take a "OK" for granted to know your once item is okay... write down and remember WHY it's okay or WHY it's not so you have that information when it pops up again), and then remember to help the new guys that are in the place you were once. But it only works if you GIVE then TAKE.

                My 2cents anyways!
