SS 822/38 alu buckle

I'm interested in buying this belt buckle. What do you think about it? Witch such expensive purchases I want to be sure about its originality.

I am not sure that it is a good one.
Could be a molded fake, IMO.

I do not like the 2 big flaws on lower left of the front and the look of the surface of the alu, not really smooth.

Are there no other details to spot such a rpelica? (are they really that good?)

Search the forum and you will find the size of an original. The repo is slightly smaller.

There must be experts here that can reconise the design and that can come up with other arguments. I also can't find the size difference between an original and a replica buckle.

So far I can conclude that there are not much reasons to suspect this one isn't original. There are 2 damages on the front, but afterall it is fragile alluminium and the buckle has been worn.

It is not a cheap buckle, so that's not a reason to suspect it's a replica.

My thoughts are its a molded fake because i can spot a few flaws in the motto & the 2 obvious flaws on the flat front face also the buckle looks narrower in width & grey in colour as opposed to an origional,

saying that i could be wrong but going by these pix this is my honest thoughts.

better pix with the buckle & measurements width/length would confirm if its real or fake imo.

False. A Conclusion based upon someone that doesn't know anything about a subject or an opinion that isn't explained , or an opinion that's based on only on a single observation just has no value (atleast to me).


It happens a lot on this forum that the first opinion(s) are overruled by other opinions.

You took the time to explain your judgement, so that's great.

Nevertheless that's 1 opinion and your observations could also be explained by a bad photo. The flaw could be a damage (afterall the buckle is used) and in a image it's hard to see how smooth a material is.


Do do I want to ignore the thruth as you accuse me of? No. I just want to know for sure, based on more opinions what that thruth imight be. That's my point. I haven't even bought the buckle yet, so that should also mean something.

If indeed ,as it now seems, the buckle is a fake according to multiple people than that's no problem at all, but than it's atleast based on a healthy discussion.

BTW I can arrange better images of the buckle.

clearer images would be nice. But, with these pictures I have to agree with the fellows. The "dents" in the lower left corner looks to "smooth", which would indicate a moulded repro. Also top left "swirl" and beginning of motto seems to have some kind of residue/ crack, which again looks suspicious. Also makersmark looks smudged and back seems pitted(could be optical illusion?)
I am FAR from an expert, but I would pass this from these pics.

looking at the pics posted and if you have to decide by them I would pass on.

Having the buckle in hands and taking measurements you will definitively tell, but I suggest a full money back guarantee to take the chance.

Thanks for the help. I got these additional images. I don't think a guarantee would work because it's a private seller, but I won't buy it anyway if there is any doubt. (I never do)

Nevertheless I'm curious if these images could help to check the originality. It will also help other buyers if they come across this buckle or another buckle just like it.
