NSKK buckle

Hello All,
As has been said, both are original buckles (with a couple caveats...) In my opinion both can be simply called "SA" although one is nickel plated brass. The 1-piece nickel plated example has a design very strongly linked to Overhoff & Cie, Lüdenscheid. These "silver" or "white" buckles were not the sole prerogative of the NSKK and would also correspond to the SA uniform either having silver or brass buttons. With regard to finish and design, a lot was left up to the personal tastes and aesthetic disposition of the individual purchaser.
In regards to buckle "1", I have seen of this very same buckle for sale before on John T.'s website. I previously shared these images with friend who is an authority on SA buckles. If I recall correctly, there was some concern with this finish, particularly given the manner of wear to the obverse. I believe this buckle may have started life as a (perhaps earlier) bare brass-on-brass SA. The finish may or may not be period. As I was told, there are certain silver restoration products available in the DIY stores like Home Depot or Lowes here in the U.S. and which can theoretically be applied to worn, scratched buckles (originally silver finish or not.) After the solution becomes black it can be buffed and leaves a fine layering of silver finish which can be built up.
For these reasons and the appearance, I passed on buckle "1" which I would say is not worth more than $85 USD. Of course this is subjective and it's really what it's worth to the individual collector. For my money and the price I would rather go for the "SA/NSKK" which I think is a very fair deal at $100. Hope that helps and look forward to any of your future buckles
Best,
