    Hitler youth buckle?

i picked this up in a box of WW1 and WW2 British medals today, just wondering if you think it is original or a copy, it is well worn and feels like aluminium.
Looks like RZ over M then a number that is hard to read /46.
    Cheers.

This really isn't a legitimate way of identifying if a buckle is bad or not. Many HJ manufactures show rounded wins on their buckles.

          See pictures below for example...

I don't see anything that really red flags this for me, there are much more educated forum members that will give you that 100% okay I'm sure!

Also, just a heads up, all regular RZM marked buckles go "M4/#" although there are some acceptions.

The gold color HJ has also round wings (note of Yellow)

But it is not the rounded wings that make this buckle fake.

See links for comparison of legitimate rounded wing gold HJ

Sorry that this has gotten off topic... Any more comments on originally posted HJ?

As stated, an original (and rather "dog-faced") HJ buckle by Wilhelm Schröder in injection-molded aluminum. These injection molded aluminum buckles are less commonly seen than the die-stamped aluminum variety and were only made by Schröder & Richard Sieper.

The yellow/gold buckle in the other thread that Patrick references is a very well-known fake but, as Josh points out, not by way of the eagle design/wings. Rather the issue with that fake buckle is the earlier Assmann markings incorrectly placed on what would be a later-period steel buckle. A bad fake that still dupes many respected dealers.

Attached are images of my RZM M4/46 injection-molded aluminum HJ for comparison.

                  Best,
                  Adam
