Plain black belt buckle

Hello all, can someone tell me more over this buckle ? Black paint looks factory done, the leather tap stitching looks ok for me, tap is also cut down but in a clean way. Found this one at a non military flea market in a 1 € box and was intrigued by it

This type of buckle has never been identified.

My guess is that the real destination of these buckles is far less sexy than actual proposed ones. Probably fireman buckle or so.

The leather adjustment tab..if made this way is different than normal. It's possible the longer portion was cut off?
