    2 Austrian buckles

I know these are being reproduced. Can someone tell me if either of these are real?

The one piece sample is for sure original and from WWI.

For the second one, look at this post :

Unbeknownst to one of the commentators here, the Austrians did actually make a 2-piece buckle during World War One, and it had the locking hook style mount on the backside for the seperately applied Austrian Eagle attachment, as is shown on here, and on a couple of other thread links that contributors on this thread refer to also as being fakes.

by the pics both look fine. Ric
I would agree also with Ric that they're both fine.

The W.W. 1 Hessians in Germany sometimes used a similar hook system, or a spring retention system to hold on the crown to the buckle. I personally have a Hessian buckle which has a double set of hooks on the backside which hold the seperate gilted crown to the frontside.

              All the Best,

              Alan

                  Hi Spike,

I'm sorry, but I've never seen one of these, and don't know a date on it.

Wish I could help you out.

                  All the Best,

                  Alan

                        Thanks for the replies.
You can see in the photo that there has been two sets of holes drilled for the crest, possibly not factory done.Maybe the crest is not original to the box.
                        Thanks again
