    Police buckle-RS&S

    Hi all
    Received this the other day off estand from Mark Satterfield,thanks very much,primo packaging.
    Anyway for the life of me I can not see the last digit on the tab,it almost looks like a 5 but when in hand I don't think it is,because the leather has a slight mark there that makes it look like a 5 which also if it is makes the 5 smaller than the other digits,maybe it is.Can anyone tell by the construction of the buckle the year for me please.
    This is the first buckle I have with the diamond logo with RSL inside of it and the logo is back to front to the books I have,has anyone seen this before,maybe it's normal.Really hard to see other than through a magnifying glass,even harder to photograph.
    Could someone please give me a heads up on this buckle and the back to front logo,thanks.
    Regards
    Spike

          Spike,

          There is another RS&S example in post #95 of the below linked thread that has a 35 date for comparison. Some of these can be difficult to read! The small diamond is typically of this maker...it's on my police buckle example with a 1938 dated tab and also on a burnised example I have for fire services. I believe you will commonly find this find this little diamond on other aluminum buckles by this maker.

            Hi Dave
            Thanks for your reply,thats an awesome thread you started.
            I'm still intrigued by the RSL in the diamond logo,I know it is common place amongst this makers buckles,but mine is back to front,very hard to see in my photos,I think you can just make it out,especially the S being back to front,is this normal.
            Thanks again.
            Best Spike

              @Dave Cameron...are you sure of 1935 ?
              In my opinion, is the buckle of 1936 and in the link also.

                          Raphael, after seeing the detailed pictures of the later example posted in this thread I suspect both others are also 1936 dated. The example in the linked thread was stated to be 1935 so I went with it. The one that started this thread is unclear. Anyhow, mostly likely all are 1936...this would also go with the introduction of the new police uniforms in that year and without checking I would assume the buckles were introduced at the same time.

                          Not overly detail but a couple of quick shots of my RS&S examples...
