yes buckle is original, painted steel by JFS
it is in pretty nice shape too..
price is subjective... I would throw a price out there of about $70-75
just my opinion though

Sorry to say that the 2nd buckle you have shown is a well known fake. That being said, it still seems to fool more than a few dealers. Basically what we see here with this repro buckle is a supposedly later steel construction with triple markings for Assmann. Instead, these markings would properly be found on the early period nickel silver Assmann buckles. This fake buckle is also often seen with a style of "crank" catch that was never used by Assmann but is found on buckles produced by Hermann Aurich.
