    HEER Buckle.

The more I have looked at this buckle the more I believe I made a bad choice. Is it possible for an aluminum buckle to have a brass component. The rear of the buckle also looks wrong, however it is marked RZM in a circular pattern. I really Know absolutely nothing about buckles. It was an impulse purchase as I have been wanting one for awhile. I am a rookie in every sense of collecting.

Sorry, horrible pics, but they may still be enough to render a verdict.

      Hi Greg,

Sorry to be the harbinger o bad news, but as you (correctly) suspected, this is a fake. Type is quite well known, and all kinds of buckles were faked in this way. The single biggest give-away is the belt hook catch. Such a one is smply never found on originals of any kind. As you said, it would be highly unusual to find a brass pin and claw as well. Also, an ZM mark shouldn't really be on a non-party buckle, but there are exceptions (although just a mistake on the manufacturer's part, i.e. the well-known steel WH with RZM M4/44 and an also well-known Reichswehr with RZM 79.

      Best regards,

      Karl

Sorry to advise that this buckle and actually as you quite rightly suspected, is a fake.

I must have pressed the submit reply a fraction of a second after you.

Apologies for the inadvertent duplication of response.

          Regards,

Thanks guys, lesson learned. Never buy if you're not sure right! I've got to get that through my thick head.
