Gentlemen,

Would like your opinions and comment on the HJ buckle.
I know there are buckle with a unusual catch like this one (RZM M4/39).
But do not know whether this is an original.

Hello Patrick,

The HJ you have shown is an original aluminum buckle by Assmann and which features the scarce "crimp" variation catch. Interestingly, this crimp catch variation is often inaccurately referred to as an "experimental" or "prototype" catch. This particular style of catch was in fact approved by the RZM though (hence the RZM mark on the buckle) and so cannot be accurately labeled or described as experimental or a prototype...words which would refer to a "pre-approval" concept. Although not common, this catch is also not exclusive HJ buckles. Attached is my example.
