I think that you would probably agree that almost anything is possible with certain and particuarly early N S buckles, with both the DJ and HJ family as prime candidates for oddities.

I have never seen a two piece construction HJ (although I do have a two piece construction DJ), however I am sure that they exist.

There appears to be one illustrated on page 277 of the Angolia reference and which appears absolutely authentic.

Ironically, there is an "Overhoff" two piece shown in the Nash publication and towards which I am somewhat uncomfortable.

Finally I found the two-piece on p. 277 of Angolia's book. I have to say that it does look good and entirely possible. When I posted my first response in this thread, I was thinking of aluminium two-pieces with 4-tab roundels because of the context of your police buckles in this thread. A HJ buckle of the same construction seemed ludicrous to me, but, again, who knows what surprises may be sprung on us.
