I think that you would probably agree that almost anything is possible with certain and particuarly early N S buckles, with both the DJ and HJ family as prime candidates for oddities.
I have never seen a two piece construction HJ (although I do have a two piece construction DJ), however I am sure that they exist.
There appears to be one illustrated on page 277 of the Angolia reference and which appears absolutely authentic.
Ironically, there is an "Overhoff" two piece shown in the Nash publication and towards which I am somewhat uncomfortable.
