    I know these can be tricky....so is it original? Came in with a grouping of all original items.

          That's always a good sign...

          Another good way is to test the leather, does it feel/look/smell 70+ years old?

            Yes the leather is dry and if you would try to fold it, I am sure it would crack. I think it is good, but I plan on putting it on the e-stand and I don't want to screw anyone. I appreciate the help in trying to start this thread.

              From the photos....the leather may actually be "Ersatz" leather....doesn't look like natural leather in the photos...Postwar belts wouldn't be "Ersatz" until much later I believe.
