Hello...I recently purchased a buckle and just wanted to know if anyone else has a similar example...it is an HJ steel buckle (magnetic) it is silver, but not painted, I assume it is anodized....with crank catch marked M4/39 A for assman...does anyone else have a steel version like this? I can only find documentation of an aluminum one in the books..thanks..chad

Not absolutely sure which HJ buckle you are describing.
May we have an image?
The attached perhaps?

David.....yes ..that is it..exactly the same....sorry but I dont have my digital with me, I will post photos tomorrow, but the buckle appears to be the same...I just couldnt find mention in the books, of a steel example with a crank catch...I saw photos , and found mentionof the alum. version, so I just got a little worried....the buckle looks dead on good, then I thought maybe this may be a hard example to find...do you have any information on the buckle that you posted the photo of????? I will be very interested to hear what you have to say, and thank you for responding...chad

Hi all,
I have one of those as well, it came with a RZM tag saying "HJ Koppelschloss", instead of of "Koppelschloß nach Vorschrift der RJF", and not tuckered together, but attached to the buckle with a slimmer piece of the paper in the shape of an arrow put through a slit. I have always had reservations about this particular RZM tag, but the shape of the eagle on the buckle is typically Assmann, as is the crank cantch. Basically, I suspect the tag to be wrong and think the buckle is good.
For all it's worth,
Karl

HJ with crank
Chad
Apologies for the delay in response, however Karl has given you the confirmation that you were looking for.
Interestingly, I have never seen this HJ with a crank in aluminium and always, steel with a silver grey painted finish.
If you have a moment, would it be possible to post new images of your HJ as a daylight shot, rather than by artificial light. Would like to have a squint at the buckles obverse and reverse finish, au naturale.
Regards,
David
